Little Peeps Daycare Expansion
Chicken Ranch Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians will break ground on a new, expanded facility for Little Peeps Daycare on Friday, September 4, marking the next step in the Tribe’s continued investment in working families and quality childcare opportunities in the community.
The groundbreaking ceremony will take place from 10:00 to 10:30 a.m. at 16750 Chicken Ranch Road, Jamestown, CA 95327. Members of the Tribal Council, project representatives, and invited guests will gather for a ceremonial groundbreaking and photo opportunity to celebrate the start of the project.
Little Peeps Daycare was established more than six years ago to help meet the childcare needs of Team Members at Chicken Ranch Rancheria and Casino Resort. Created as a Team Member benefit, the program provides discounted childcare services to Chicken Ranch Team Members and their families. As the program has grown, the Tribal Council has recognized an opportunity to expand its services and provide additional childcare options for families throughout the surrounding community.
“Little Peeps was created to support our Team Members and their families, and we are proud to see how much the program has grown over the past six years,” said Joseph Mathiesen-Powell, Chairman of the Chicken Ranch Rancheria of Me-Wuk Indians. “This new facility allows us to build on that commitment by creating a safe and welcoming place where more children can learn and grow. Investing in our families and our community is an investment in the next generation, and we are excited to see Little Peeps take this next step.”
Little Peeps currently serves 25 children and anticipates welcoming approximately 20 additional children as capacity expands.
The new facility is designed to include dedicated spaces for children by age group, enabling Little Peeps staff to provide more comprehensive and developmentally appropriate learning, play, and enrichment opportunities. Daycare services are available for children ages 2 through 10, and Little Peeps is now open seven days a week to better accommodate the schedules and needs of working families.
The safety and well-being of every child remains a top priority. All Little Peeps Team Members undergo required background reviews and licensing renewals every two years. Staff members are also trained and certified in Infant and Adult CPR as part of the facility’s licensing requirements.
The September 4 groundbreaking will mark the beginning of the next chapter for Little Peeps as the program prepares to welcome more children and families into a facility designed specifically to support their care, development, and growth.
