Groundbreaking the new Chicken Ranch Casino Resort

August 24, 2021

Under clear skies and stunning views of the Sierra Foothills, the Chicken Ranch Tribe of Me-Wuk Indians (along with project partners and cohorts) officially broke ground on the new Chicken Ranch Casino scheduled to be operational by late 2023.

The new Chicken Ranch Casino has been the latest venture of the Chicken Ranch Rancheria Tribe of Me-Wuk Indians and is anticipated to be the gold standard of Casino operations and destinations west of the Mississippi. With stunning views of Yosemite peaks in the distance and brilliant ease of access from Hwy 49/108, and located just 1hr from the entrance to Yosemite National Park, the new Chicken Ranch Casino will offer the first real destination experience in Tuolumne County and surrounding Sierra Nevada region.

The current Chicken Ranch Tribal Council members were thrilled to see this day finally come, as ceremonies started with local Indigenous prayers and songs to bless and honor the occasion, and a few words of vision from Chairman Mathiesen thanking all those involved with the project. Acknowledgements and appreciation from Chairman Mathiesen extended to: Tribal members' past and present, future generations of the Tribe, community members, partners, and employees of the organization.

With little fanfare and the absence of typical gold shovels, members of the Chicken Ranch Tribe ritually moved the first spades of red earth with intentions towards future prosperity for the Tribe and community. This marks a whole new adventure in gaming and entertainment for generations to come!
